ROPAR: Ropar police claimed to have solved a case relating to the murder of a truck driver that took place on October 4 last at village Fatehpur Bunga falling under Kiratpur Sahib police station, by arresting two accused in this regard.
While talking to media persons here today Ropar SSP Inder Mohan Singh said that truck driver Ramesh Chand of village Baruna Majra falling under Nalagarh Police station of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh was killed by some unknown persons near SYL bridge at village Fatehpur Bunga on the night of October 4 last and a case under section 302, 34 of IPC was registered in this regard at Kiratpur Sahib police station.
He said that a special investigating team was constituted to solve the case. After the investigations police arrested two accused Vikramjit Singh alias PT and Sukhvir Singh ,both of village Fatehpur Bunga in this regard.
Giving details about the incident, SSP said both the accused were returning to their homes on their motorcycle after consuming liquor at Bunga Sahib bus stand on October 4. They blew horn of the motorcycle repeatedly to overtake the Truck no HP 12D-4231 which was moving ahead. However, truck driver did not allow them to overtake for quite some time and even hurled abuses on them. They somehow managed to overtake the truck.
Lateron,when Vikramjit along with Sukhvir Singh were standing outside his house,the truck driver again hurled abuses on them while passing from there and drove away the truck. Irated over hurling of abuses, both of them chased the truck on their motorcycle and stopped the same near the SYL canal bridge at Fatehpur Bunga.
They took out the driver from the truck and thrashed him severaly as a result of which he fell unconscious. Thereafter, they placed the body of the truck driver under the right rear tyres of the truck and moved the truck forward after putting it in neutral gear as a result of which it runover the unconscious driver, who died on the spot.
SSP said that the accused had enacted the drama to show the murder as an accident.
