US Sikhs face hate crime again, cars damaged in Sikh Temple

Saturday, November, 17 2012 - 18:47

NORCROSS/CHANDIGARH:  Post Wisconsin shooting and receiving threats, US-Sikhs have again been a victim to hate crime, where a white male aged about 17-22 damaged expensive cars at the parking lot of a Gurudwara.

It was reported that a white man was spotted scratching the cars in the parking lot with a sharp object and when a kid who was playing in the parking lot tried to stop him, the white man threw stones at him leaving the kid injured.

The incident took place at the 1158 Rockbridge Road, Norcross, GA, last Sunday around 12.30 pm.

The alleged perpetrator successfully escaped, but significantly the culprit had targeted all the expensive cars in the parking lot causing a damage of around $ 10,000. A complaint has been filed in the Gwinnett county police, registering it as case no. 1473.

Surinder Singh, Community Leader stated, the male had entered the Gurudwara province and had intentionally damaged all the expensive cars parked in the lot. He stressed on knowing the reason behind the culprit’s act, he deemed it was due to hate because of the different identity.

The ‘United Sikhs’ have requested all the Sikhs to be observant and vigilant, not taking this act lightly. The Sikh community also demanded justice as the growing number of hate crime is merely because of the discrete personality.
