Vishvakarma Day celebrated

LUDHIANA: Baba Vishavkarma International Foundation today celebrated Baba Vishvakarma Day with great enthusiasm in the grain market, on Gill Road, here.

The state-level function was celebrated under the leadership of the foundation’s patron Krishan Kumar Bawa, Ghanshyam Lotey, Kirpal Singh Sagar, President Sukhwinder sohal, Surjit Lotey, Hari singh Bhambar, Swarn Singh Saggu and general secretary Resham Singh Saggu. 

Inaugurating the function, City Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria spoke about the importance of the day. He said Baba Vishvakarma was an architect and all inventions from needle to aeroplane were only because of Him. He said this was our duty to celebrate this day with great enthusiasm.

On the occasion, both Bawa and Lotey honoured prominent personalities from different spheres. Those who were honoured with 'Vishavkarma Ratan Award' were; prominent poet Surjit Patar, Sardar Panchi, famous folk singer Surinder Chhinda, K. Deep, noted industrialist Jaswant Singh Sagar, Rajinder Singh Saund Nexo, Narinder Singh, Surjit Singh Nota, Inderjit Singh Sohal, Satwant Singh Sheera, Jagtar Singh Gobind Expeller, Amarjit Singh Syan NRI, Krishan Kansal, Educationist Prof. Onkar Singh Saggu, Dr Kamaljit sohi, Ashok Makkar. 

Speaking on the occasion, former Punjab Minister, Malkit Singh Dakha asserted that the day should be celebrated above political platforms because Lord Vishvakarma was an architect of the whole universe.

While paying their obeisance before the Baba Vishavkarma portrait, Baba Banda Singh Bahadar International Foundation chief patron Jagdev Singh Jassowal and Baba Vishavkarma International Foundation patron KK Bawa urged upon the state government the name of Punjab Technical University (PTU) be named after Baba Vishavkarma. They pointed out that all the facilities available in the world were only because of Baba Vishavkarma.

On the occasion, Bawa announced that the foundation would celebrate birth anniversary of Bhai Lalo every year.
In his address, Ghanshyam Lotey demanded that the stat government should allocate 2 acres of land in Ludhiana for the setting up of bhawan that should be named after Baba Vishavkarma. 

Punjabi Sahit Akademi president Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill said Baba Vishavkarma had done a lot for humanity after connecting worldwide workers with architecture. He said there was a need to approach UNO for getting declare this day as “International Architecture Day”.  He regretted that menace of drug was on rise in Punjab. He asserted that there was a need that social, religious and political leaders should unitedly work against this menace.

On the occasion, Punjabi folk singer Surinder Chhinda and Maninder Chhinda from Canada did 'aarti' of Baba Vishavkarma.  Singer K deep, Gulshan Komal, Prithvi, Amrinder Kahlon and Amarjit Sherpuri also performed.
