MOHALI: The customs department seized about 1.9kg gold, worth approximately Rs 1 crore, from a passenger who arrived from Dubai at the Mohali International Airport on Wednesday.
The gold was concealed in an electric iron in the form of a plate by the accused - Kulvinder Singh,46, a resident of Ludhiana. His modus operandi was similar to that of a Bathinda youth held earlier with the airport's second largest haul of gold of 7kg. The metal this time was fixed inside the iron.
