International Day of Yoga Celebrated at Khalsa Institutions

AMRITSAR: The `International Day of Yoga’ was today celebrated at Khalsa College for Women celebrated and other institution with the view to provide valuable information to the students and staff to maintain healthy life style. Khalsa College Governing Council honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said through his message that Yoga was being practiced world to preserve good health today.

KCW Officiating Principal Dr. Manpreet Kaur gave description about the activities undertaken by various NSS units throughout the session and especially today. She said the main motive of Yoga day is to create awareness among students and teachers concerning health, yoga and sensitize them to common health problems. A Workshop on Yoga was conducted in the College. The Yoda Day was also observed at Khalsa College of Education under the supervision of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, officiating Principal and at Khalsa College Public School under Principal AS Gill.

The day in the institutions started with the performance of Yoga-Asanas. Principal and the staff also participated in the Asanas. The physical education trainer monitored the Yoga Asanas: Vajrasana, Tadasana, Padmasana, Dhanurasana, Mayurasana. Special Camping programme was followed by a lecture on "Benefits of Yoga" by the trainer including Sukhdeep Kaur. NSS student & volunteers also participated energetically in Yoga camp interaction. The health fitness centre of college supplemented the activities by providing opportunities for physical exercise which enhances stamina among the staff and students.
