AMRITSAR: Khalsa College of Education Amritsar today organized a one day National Seminar on “Paradigm Shift in Teacher Education” in collaboration with IATE (Indian Association of Teacher Educators) which was inaugurated by KCGC Hony Secy S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. In his inaugural address, Chhina highlighted the problems in the existing teacher education programmes and he further suggested that there should be one institution for all courses of Teacher Education and universities should adopt the policies immediately.
Dr.J.S.Dhillon , Principal, Khalsa College of Education, Amritsar formally welcomed all the worthy guests of the day and he stated that there is a dire need of overhauling the teacher education programme & system. Prolegomenon by Dr.Amit Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar and stated about the Challenges In Integrated Teacher Education Programme.
Key-Note address was delivered by Prof. K.Ramachandran,Advisor,India-Africa Institute of Educational Planning and Administration(IAIEPA), NIEPA, New Delhi. He shared that he was the first student of the first batch of Integrated programme. He highlighted the Factors underpinning paradigm shift in teacher education after that the Souvenir was released by the eminent educationists. Chairperson Remarks were summarized by Prof. S.P.Malhotra, Chief Consultant (Education), MHRD and Educational Consultant, India Ltd.,New Delhi.
Various Research Scholars across the country were invited for submission of papers which would then be published in a monograph and special issue of UGC Approved Quarterly Journal "Researcher's Tandem".
The seminar was structured into four sub sessions including the Inaugural session, Prelection, Technical session and Validictory session. In the Prelection various prestigious resource persons from all over India like Prof.P.K.Sahoo Former President (IATE), , Dr.Rakesh Sachdeva Director, Rayat Bahra Group, Dr.(Mrs.)Namita Sahoo, Prof. Dinesh Chahal Department of Education Central University of Haryana Mahendergarh, Dr.Jiwan Jyoti Sidana Director Sidana Institutes of Education V.P.O. Khiala Khurd Amritsar, Dr.S.K.Panda, Jammu University, Jammu, Dr.S.P.Kaur Dhillon, Principal, Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, Dr.Parminder Kaur Principal Lyallpur Khalsa College of Education For Women Jalandhar, Dr.Surinderjit Kaur Principal Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara, and many more were present on this event and have given their expert views.
