Punjab Governor felicitates Rayat Bahra University Chancellor

MOHALI: Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University and Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI), has been presented with the Award of Honour by VP Bednore, Governor of Punjab and , in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of social work.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra has made significant contribution in the field of education and his first step was setting up of an engineering college in rural Punjab. He followed it up by setting up other institutes including law, education, pharmacy, management, polytechnic and an international school in the same area to cater to the educational needs children. There has been no looking back thereafter.

Now the Rayat Bahra Group has 60 institutes encompassing Engineering, Management, Education, Pharmacy, Sciences, Law, Social Sciences, Hotel Management, Medical & Allied Sciences, Nursing and Dental Colleges as well as two renowned universities. In addition, it also runs six international schools for improving the quality of basic education in schools. The campuses are operating in the States of Punjab - Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Ropar, Patiala; in Himachal Pradesh at Shimla Hills, and in Haryana at Sonipat.

As corporate social responsibility the RBGI has introduced scholarships under “Saare Padho Aage Badho” Scheme and the Rayat Bahra Group offers a large number of scholarships and concessions to meritorious, deserving and needy students. Scholarships worth Rs 9.5 crore were awarded in 2017 alone.

The Group regularly organizes free medical and dental check-up camps, blood donation camps and general awareness camps etc. in the rural areas. Rayat Bahra Group students actively participate in various awareness drives in the vicinityof each campus to mobilise public opinion against social evils. The Group plays ctive role in missions like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Padhao Aatmanirbhar Banao, and Ghar Ghar Naukri, etc.
