Chandigarh: The UT Health Department on Tuesday took samples of milk products, including those of 11 quintsls of paneer which was found at a store in a house in sector22 and a pick –up.The owner of the house and pick- up driver have been issued challans for operating without a food licence.
The raiding team said paneer was being brought from punjab in the pick-up, and sold to the store illegally. According to officials of the Health Department,they had to tip-off that milk products were being sold from sector 22 illegally. A health team was formed in cordinatiom with crime branche officials. The team intercepted the pick-up outside the house in sector 22.Four quintals of paneer was found in the pick- up,while seven quintals of paneer was found in the house of Mohinder Singh. Curd and milk cream were also being sold from there.The vehicle reportedly belongs to punjab dairy in Phillaur.”we have issued challans. They can be fined uo to Rs 5 lakh by the court with six months imprisonment,”said a senior health official after the raid.
