Sikh Educational Society make winning debut in International Festival

INDIANAPOLIS: Sikh Educational Society made winning debut at the 41st Annual Indy International Festival on the middle day of the three-day event at the Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fair.

Organized by Natiionalities Council of Indiana, the day was marked by Lion Dance - Roaming, Sister Stella Basket Balancing Dance,  Free  Health screening, Sreemala’s Veena Group (India), Dans Norden and Skandilocity (Scandinavia), Joy Chinese Orchestra (China), Maryam Kiani (Persia), Irish Blessings Dancers, Mayuri School of Dance (India), Flamenco Ole (Spain), Ananya Goswami – Srishti (India), Indiana Okinawa Kenjinkai (Japan), Minyo Club of Indianapolis (Japan), Peruvian Mix Dance, Indianapolis Chinese Performing Arts, Inc, Americas Indy Hula, Philippine Barangay Children's Dance Group, Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos, Sayaw: Philippine Cultural Dance Co. and Parade of Nations.

Besides school children, a large number of visitors throunged the venue and  visited each booth. They were provided non-non-stop entertainment,  ethnic foods and shopping opportunities. The Festival provided an opportunity to the visitors to learn arts, culture, customs and traditions of the other countries. Facilties for applying passport and getting birth certificates were also available.
Prominent community leader Kanwal Prakash Singh, International Marketplace Coalition Director Mary G. Clark, Carson Smith, Festival Manager Marife Cabaluna Callender, Pamela Hatfield Gemmer, Sumeeta Bhatia of India Association of Indianapolis.and Shifting Ideas Through Education for African Women, Inc. (SITEAW) director Sister Stella Sabina were among whose who organized/participated in the festival activities.
