Three awarded life term for beating youth to death

MOHALI: Three people ,including two women , were awarded life sentence on Monday for beating a man to death after tying him up with barbed wire in october 2016.

Additional district and sessions judge Monika Goyal also imposed a fine of rs 20,0000 each on convicts Anil Kumar ,alias Neela Poonam and Sarmishtha.

Police had on october 24, 2016 registered a murder case on the complaint of victim Amar Nath ‘s wife Narmada.the 30-year old victim used to work as a cook and lived in a rented accocomodation with his family at Togan Village Near Maloya in Chandigarh.

After registering a case against the trio ,police initially filled challan against Sarmishtha only.

It was during the trial thet court summoned Anil and Poonam on Narmada’s statement.According to her Nathy had left home on the evening of October 22,2016, and returned injuries on his body Hehad accused the triof beating him up with sticks.

Nath was rushed to Government multi Specialty hospital, SECTOR 16, where he succumbeed.his brother Gulab had said that Nath gone to get ration According to Police, the accused assaulted him after he was allegedly caught stealing their cart.
