10 pilgrims killed, 13 injured in road mishap in Punjab

HOSHIARPUR:As many as 10 pilgrims were killed and 13 injured whn the Mahindra pickup van in which they were traveling hit a road side tree here. They were returning from a religious place in Una, Himachal pradesh.

Two children and three women are among the deceased, mostly belonging to a family of village Ialam Shaheed near Dasuya.They were returning after paying obeisance at 'Peer Nigah'e, in Una district in Pick van No. PB 07A 3876. The driver of the van reportedly dozed and van hit the tree Hoshiarpur MC office. The children fell out of Van. The van also crushed a rickshaw standing on road side.

The people of the area started rescue operations. Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia also reached n the spot to supervise rescue operation. The injured people were rushed to civil hospital where doctors declared 10 of them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Malkit his son Aakash, Navdip, Kamla wife Om Parkash, Komal wife Kamaljit, Onkar Singh son of Paramjit Singh, Gurbux son of Manjit Ram, Vishal son of On Parkash and two small children.
