I will work to liberate Akal Takht, SGPC from political control, says H.S.Phoolka

CHANDIGARH: Senior Supreme Court lawyer and AAP MLA H.S.Phoolka who has resigned from AAP today said that he had completed his first mission of his life with conviction and life imprisonment to Congress leader Sajjan Kumar who was involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.

Phoolka who was heading a team of lawyers for the victims of 1984 was addressing a press conference here today and revealed his future course of acti0on. He said that he had resigned from AAP and his assembly seat of Dakha to begin his next mission of life. His resignation from assembly is pending with the Speaker.

Phoolka said that he would now start a campaign to liberate Sikh institutes like Sri Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee(SGPC) from political control. He said that he would contact all religious bodies, like minded people and members of sant samaj to come together to restore supermacy of religious bodies which are now under control of Badal family.

Phoolka said that he would launch a campaign on the pattern of 'Gurdawara Sudhar Lehar' to reform the Sikh institutions. He said that with the help of Sikh preachers and other stake holders he would prepare volunteers to achieve the target.He said that Sikh institutions must be headed by a person who work for the welfare of community and not one political family.

He said that apology sought by Badal family members at Akal Takht was just a drama and they cant be pardoned of theior sins. He said that Badal family had never allowed any intellectual Sikh to come forward to lead the community.

Phoolka said that he would prepare a draft of bill under which no political leader, MP or MLA would be allowed to contest the SGPC elections. He said that draft bill will be sent to Gurdawara commission. He said that he would never join a political party or will not contest SGPC electi0on in future. He added that his aim of life was to restore the 'maryada' (order of rituals) of Akal Takht and depoliticise SGPC.
