Scrap biased Anti-Punjab PPA's with 3 Pvt Thermal Plants: Aman Arora

June 07, 2019 05:49 PM

CHANDIGARH: AAP MLA from Sunam , Aman Arora, yesterday, shot off a  letter to newly appointed Power Minister S. Navjot Singh Sidhu. While congratulating Sidhu for his new assignment and wishing him good luck , Arora while appreciating Sidhu's efforts to uproot corruption from his previously held Portfolio, Local Bodies, praised him for his plain speaking of 'Friendly Match' and '75:25' comment , which being  a pure truth ,and being acknowledged by the whole of Punjab, has  not gone down well within his own party.

Though urging Sidhu, that he still can and should perform in the best interest of the State , even with his new Portfolio Power where , a lot needs to be fixed.  Stating an example, Arora urged Sidhu to review/ scrap Power Purchase Agreements (PPA's) with 3 Private Thermal Power Plants that were entered into by the previous Akali-BJP  Govt wherein the State was bound to pay upto 2800 Crores annually without buying evev a single unit from these Pvt Thermal Plants, which might end up Punjab loosing a whopping 70000 Crores in next 25 years, which is an open loot of the State's exchequer.

Arora, while corroborating his point, reminded Sidhu that all these issues were raised by him on the floor of the Assembly also during this year's Budget Session , and were acknowledged and accepted by Sidhu's 2 predecessors Gurpreet Singh Kangar and Rana Gurjit Singh also, but unfortunately Govt chose to keep mum and let these Private Power  Companies continue with their loot, which is highly unfortunate and unacceptable. Arora offered Sidhu that he could personally visit Sidhu , if he wishes so, in the best interest of the State, to present all the related documents which could establish that State exchequer was being siphoned off for thousands of Crores because of these irrational, illogical and anti- Punjab PPA's, which needs to be scrapped immediately.
