CHANDIGARH:  Sukhpal Singh Khaira MLA and president of Punjab Ekta Party(PEP) today welcomed the decision of Punjab and Haryana High Court to issue notice to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh in the tax evasion case filed by Income Tax Department, revealing unaccounted money deposited by them in foreign banks.

Khaira in a statement said that Capt Amarinder Singh was in habit of circumventing the judicial process and he might be using his political clout to save his skin in the foreign bank account case. Earlier, in another case of Ludhiana City Center scam, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal filed cancellation report in the court. Capt Amarinder Singh after becoming Chief Minister misused his position to alter the judicial process in his favour. Same modus oprandi was used by Badal and influenced witnesses to backtrack in disproportionate Assets case and court acquitted him and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal on 'technical grounds'.

Khaira said that Judicial order to keep Capt Amarinder Singh and his son on notice in the IT case has reinforced faith of people in the judiciary. He said that Director IT (Investigation) had received information about foreign bank accounts of Capt Amarinder Singh's family members in July 2011 from the France government. He said that in this case Capt Amarinder Singh and his son were trying to hijack legal process banking on certain technical issues. He added that IT department had found substantial evidence against Raninder Singh and his family members and issued summoning orders on April 24, 2017. The order was stayed by a Ludhiana court.

Khaira said that as per evidence procured by IT department Capt Amarinder Singh and his son were maintaining accounts with HSBC Private Bank(Suisee) SA, Ganeva and raised assets in foreign countries. He said that it was clear case of parking their black money in foreign banks.

Khaira said that Capt Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal are on same page as far as corruption in government is concerned. He said that most shameful part is that they (Captain and Badal) made looting public money their full time job and abandoned their primary duty of addressing  key problems like unemployment, rising crime, illegal mining, drug menace, deteriorating health and education services and unrest among the government staff.

Khaira said that it was high time that people of Punjab get rid of Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh's families and support a better political alternative in state.
