CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee member, Anumit Hira Sodhi has flayed the film The Accidental Prime Minister which he described as a marketingstrategy of BJP to conceal the failures of NDA governemnt in center.

The film, which is an upcoming Indian biographical film starring Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh, the economist, and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance.

The film is based on a memoir written by Sanjaya Baru with the same name i.e. The Accidental Prime Minister. Sanjaya Baru is an Indian Policy analyst who served as the media advisor of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from May 2004 to August 2008. With its first official trailer, the movie has already sparked off numerous controversies for reportedly damaging the image of the top members of Indian National Congress Party.

In the movie, Baru alleges that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh was a subservient to the former President of Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi.

Anumit Hira Sodhi said, "such a film which is politically motivated and demeaning others is a dirty trick adopted by BJP to defame the Congress Party. The book written by Mr. Baru was declared as 'fictional' by the former Prime Minister himself. Now the movie on the same subject is being released just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2019, starring Mr. Anupam Kher who himself is a dedicated BJP supporter".

"It clearly indicates that movie is nothing but a marketing strategy of BJP to conceal their own abortive actions. They are using the movie to take away public's attention from Modi government's failure at perfect timing for the most disgusting step" Anumit further added.
