Haryana Police seizes 37.5 kg opium plants, 7 gram heroin

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police has arrested a person on the charges of growing opium plants in his fields at village Dhani Bahia in district Sirsa and recovered 37.5 kg green opium plants and 1.2 kg doda post.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused was identified as Kulwant Singh, a resident of village Dhani Bahia in Rania, district Sirsa. The accused was arrested by a team of Rania Police Station after getting specific inputs about cultivation of opium plants.

He said that a police team during patrolling was present near village Bahia. On getting information, the police team immediately swung into action and arrested the accused alongwith 37.5 kg of green opium plants and 1.2 kg doda post. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the accused in Rania Police Station.

In another incident, a team of CIA Dabwali had arrested Rajesh from Court Road Mandi Dabwali area on the charges of possessing 7 gram heroin. A case under the provisions of NDPS Act was registered against him.

Both accused would be taken on remand by producing them in the Court so that involvement of others in the network of drug-peddling could be unearthed.
