New Haryana DGP Manoj Yadava assume office

CHANDIGARH: Manoj Yadava, IPS Officer of 1988 batch, assumed the charge of Director General of Police, Haryana at State Police Headquarters in Panchkula today.

Before taking charge as DGP, Yadava took Guard of Honour. The senior police officers congratulated Yadava after later assumed the charge of the office from officiating DGP, Dr K.P. Singh.

Newly appointed DGP, while interacting with media persons said that maintaining law and order, effective prevention and detection of crime, better investigation, providing safe and secure environment to women and also to weaker sections of the society will be among his top priorities. He mentioned that General Parliamentary Elections are round the corner, thus he would also ensure to make all necessary possible arrangements to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the State.

Describing Haryana Police as one of the best police force, Yadava said that it is an honour for him to serve as DGP of Haryana.  and recalled  the time when he  has begun  his career in Haryana Police. There have been lot of initiatives that have been undertaken by Haryana Police in the past, which are extremely laudable. We will further try our best with the help of citizens to strengthen them besides initiating new ones, he stated.

In reply to a question, the DGP said that Haryana is my home and he has never remained untouched with the State. “While being on deputation at Centre, I have been in touch with senior functionaries of state police force”, he added.

When asked about the police arrangements in the light of recent terrorist incident in Pulwama, he said that terrorism does not  limit  to  any border or jurisdiction. We are fully geared up and emphasis would be given on capacity building in police force. STF had already been set up headed by an IGP level officer.  Proposal for setting up Anti-Terrorism Squad and Quick Response Teams is under active consideration of the State Government. Police will take all necessary steps in this direction.

On being asked to comment on efficiency of State intelligence, the DGP said that intelligence wing of Haryana Police is one of the best in the country. To make better coordination with the central intelligence agencies will also be our priority.
