Two passengers died after tourist bus catches fire

KURUKSHETRA: Two passengers  died and 19 others were injured after a private tourist Volvo   bus  caught fire after hitting the divider in early hours today near Kingston Banquet hall three Kms away from Pipli in Kurukshetra district on GT road.

The double Decker  tourist bus  no UP17 AT4406 was carrying  50 to 55 passengers was going from Delhi to Jammu and around 4 am the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned after hitting the divider. The bus caught fire immediately and the passengers were hard pressed to rescue themselves. Some passengers broke the window panes of bus to get out of it. One old lady aged 75 years died of burn injuries and another person was crushed.

The fire was controlled by the fire brigade and injured were shifted to the Kurukshetra LNJP hospital.4 seriously injured passengers were shifted to PGI Chandigarh. Most of other passengers were discharged after first aid.
