Amritsar-The Holy City

AMRITSAR: The Home of world famous Har Mandar Sahib (Golden Temple) founded by Guru Ramdas the 4th Guru. Arjun Dev who also enshrined in it holy book of Sikhs Guru Granth Sahib. Amritsar is the most important seat of sikh history and culture, trade centre & also the gateway for travellers coming to india on the overland route through Pakistan.

The Fifth Guru Shri Arjan Dev ji himself conceived and designed a central place of worship in the central place of amrit sarover which is regarded as The Harimandir sahib temple is attracting people from all walks of life irrespective of caste creed and religion.

Durgiana Mandir
A Famous hindu Temple with sarover attracts thousands of devotees everyday.

Ram Tirath 
It is here that Sage Valmiki wrote the epic, Ramayana.

Jallian Wala Bagh 
The massacre of thousands of innocent civilians by British army on 13th April 1919 gave the Indian freedom movement an altogether new dimension. A befitting memorial secreted at the spot to remember the martyrs.

Hari-ke-Patan  
Harike, or Hari-ke-Pattan, as it is often called is a road journey of about 40 km from Moga and the nearest railhead is Amritsar (60 km). It is located on the banks of Wetland which can be viewed from the Gurdwara on the bank of Harike Lake. Harike wetland is one of the largest freshwater wetlands in Northern India

Wagah Border  
The Colorful Beating of the Retreat Ceremony by rangers from both India and Pakistan in Wagah is definitely a visitor’s delight generally. A Visit to Amritsar is incomplete without a visit to Wagah Border.


How To Reach:

Amritsar is connected by Indian Airlines flights to Delhi, Srinagar and Chandigarh twice a week. There is a weekly flight to Kabul.

##img_3##Amritsar is connected with direct trains to Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, Puri, Nagpur, Jammu and other cities of India.

The important trains include Frontier Mail to Mumbai, Shatabadi Express to Delhi, Utkal Express to Puri and Howrah Mail to Calcutta. There are bi-weekly trains to Pakistan.

There is a vast network of bus services of Punjab, Himachal, Delhi, Haryana, Pepsu, Chandigarh, UP, J&K, Rajasthan State Roadways, apart from private operators. Important destinations include Delhi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Kulu, Manali, Dharmshala, Dalhousie and Jammu.
