Indian Dimmed Icons: People! Do you still accept them as icons of India?

We are talking about Indian cricketers who are so much iconize in our advertising  world as we know, but do they really deserved it or is that responsible for their bad performances nowadays. Cricketers now become some commodities to lure people to buy products.

In our day to day life, just after we switch on the television and start watching a movie or a serial, we are also welcomed with fancy and attractive advertisements. Some of them almost bored us with their repeated telecast but no doubt advertising agencies apply certain new ideas to make the advertisement all new and interesting again. The advertisement of the same product is revised several times in order to increase its product value. Cricketers are also a means through which the product is revised.

Yuvaraj singh, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sewag, who else is missing or who else, is not selected by our advertising agencies. Since Indian cricketers have an iconic status in Indian they are well marketed by our advertising agencies giving big sum of money.

Cricket nowadays is more like a business; Indian premier league is a good example. Lots of money rolling in to the board of control for cricket in India (BCCI), it is now the world’s richest cricket association, but in 1992, it had a deficit of $150,000.

While the money rolling in, the performance is rolling out as all know. India has been eliminated in the preliminary rounds of the world cup.

Sometimes confusion occur whether we should call them cricketers or actors and there is no doubt that if they go on with their bad performances, people will stop using products endorsed by these cricketers and fans of cricket will soon turn into cricket’s biggest enemies.

Look into the other corners only few other sportsmen who earn crores of money in advertisement, they are negligible numbers compared to cricketers.

In India other sport persons are hardly mentioned or hardly known to public and in news papers also you will find cricket news occupying more than half of the sports page. Public have so much interest over cricket and it’s in the hand our cricketers that they maintain or minimize its supporters.

Question arises, such as, where Indian cricket is heading? Our cricketers must be ready with the answer, whether they are heading towards litters or anywhere?
