PATIALA : State Bank of Patiala wednesday has opened 29 branches spanning across the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh, Uttar Pardesh and Rajasthan.

Press release issued by SBoP’s head office here said that with the opening of these 29 branches, the total no of branches of the bank has reached to 932.
The 932nd Branch at Kharkara (Dist Kaithal, Haryana) was inaugurated by Ashok Nayar, Managing Director of the Bank. This Branch is opened under Financial Inclusion Initiative.
Nayar informed that the Bank has set a target of opening 20 branches under financial inclusion initiative in FY 2010-11 and will provide banking services in 441 unbanked villages through Brick & Mortar Model/Business Correspondents.
Nayar further told that Govt has also decided to pay old age pension through the accounts maintained by Brick & Mortar branches or Business Correspondents. On the occasion a Health Checkup Programme and Tree plantation Camp was also inaugurated by Nayar. Study kits were also distributed to the poor students of Govt School.
