The 18th convocation ceremony was held at Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector-36B, Chandigarh on Saturday with great dignity and enthusiasm. On this occasion, degrees were awarded to 225 students of various courses. The Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Renu Vig was present as the chief guest. Along with him, Dr. (Mrs.) Agnes Dhillon, Chairperson, Dev Samaj College of Education Management and Shri Manvinder Singh Mangat, Secretary, Dev Samaj College of Education Management also graced the program.
The event started with the college prayers, after which the Principal of the college, Dr. (Mrs.) Richa Sharma, welcomed the guests and formally announced the inauguration of the convocation. There was an atmosphere of enthusiasm throughout the campus, where the students were feeling proud to take their academic journey to a new level.
In his convocation address, Prof. Renu Vig highlighted the importance of higher education and its responsibilities. He said that getting a higher education degree is not just a certificate, but it is also a sign of your independent thinking, ability to learn and your ability to contribute to the betterment of society. He advised the students to avoid taking shortcuts and listen to their inner voice. He exhorted the students to channel their energies in a positive and meaningful direction so that they can become excellent teachers and responsible citizens in future.
Dr. (Mrs.) Agnes Dhillon also extended her best wishes to the students and said that the field of teaching is a profession that requires complete dedication, honesty and sensitivity. He told the students that they are now stepping into the real world, where they will put their knowledge and theories into practice.
At the ceremony, the degrees of B.Ed., M.Ed., Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling and Post Graduate Diploma in Child Guidance and Family Counselling were awarded to the students of the sessions 2020–22, 2021–23 and 2022–24. Pro. Vig himself went on stage and felicitated the students, making the students' faces light up with pride and happiness.
A special highlight of the event was the moment when meritorious students who achieved academic excellence from four different sessions were felicitated. Special awards were given to these students for their outstanding academic achievements, hard work and disciplined work style.
At the end of the ceremony, the college administration expressed gratitude to all the guests, parents and students. The convocation was not only a significant milestone in the academic life of the students but also marked the new beginning of their bright future. Dev Samaj College of Education has maintained its emphasis on excellence and value-based teaching in the field of education, as always, and this event added another golden chapter in the same direction.
