A 20-year-old man was allegedly killed on his birthday in Haryana’s Karnal after he went out with friends to celebrate on Thursday night. His family was later informed that he had met with an accident and was being taken to hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Krish, a resident of a rented house near Gali No. 2 on Hansi Road in Karnal. Originally from Bihar, Krish lived in Karnal with his family and worked as an air-conditioner technician.
According to his father, Bhola Ram, Krish had turned 20 on October 2. On Thursday evening, he asked his father for some money and told the family that he wanted to celebrate his birthday with friends outside.
The family reportedly advised him to celebrate at home, but Krish did not agree and left with his friends.
Later at night, Krish’s mother called him and asked when he would return. He reportedly told her that he would be home within 10 minutes. The family then went to sleep.
At around 2 am, the daughter-in-law of their landlord woke the family and informed them that Krish had been involved in an accident and had been taken to a hospital.
The family rushed to the hospital, but doctors had already declared Krish dead. The family was devastated after learning of his death.
The circumstances surrounding the incident later raised suspicion of a murder. According to the family, Krish had allegedly got into an argument with four to five youths, during which he was attacked with a knife.
His father has alleged that Krish’s friends were responsible for the killing and that they later informed the family about an accident before fleeing the spot.
Police have taken the body into custody and shifted it to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Around eight to 10 youths have reportedly been detained for questioning in connection with the case.
A case has been registered against Pradeep, son of Sumer Chand; Prince, son of Ramlakhan Chauhan; Gaurav, son of Shankar Paswan; Dhruv, son of Rajesh Kumar; and others.
Bhola Ram has appealed to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for assistance, seeking justice for his son and financial support for the family.
Police are questioning the detained youths and investigating the circumstances that led to Krish’s death.
