A 24-year-old youth from Pathankot, Punjab, was allegedly shot dead in Calgary, Canada. The deceased has been identified as Harjas Singh, a resident of Sundar Nagar in Pathankot.
According to the family, Harjas had travelled to the United States around three months ago in search of employment and was working at a store. He had reportedly travelled to Calgary, Canada, for some work when he was shot by an unidentified person.
The incident took place in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E. in Calgary. The news of Harjas’ death sent shockwaves through his family in Pathankot, leaving his relatives devastated.
Police Received Shooting Report Early on August 30
According to Calgary Police, officers received a report of a shooting at around 12:55 a.m. on August 30 in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E.
Police reached the scene following the report and found a man deceased. The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
No arrest has been made so far, and investigators are working to identify and locate the suspect.

Meanwhile, Harjas Singh’s family and local residents have urged the authorities to provide all possible administrative assistance to bring his mortal remains back to India at the earliest.
