A 49-member Pakistani Sikh pilgrimage group returned to Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border route, which had remained closed following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The group had arrived in New Delhi on October 8 from Lahore via Tashkent aboard an Uzbekistan Airways flight. It comprised 21 men, 26 women and two children. The pilgrims had come to India to visit various historic Sikh shrines across the country.

After completing their pilgrimage, the group had booked expensive air tickets to return to Pakistan on October 30 via Tashkent from Delhi.

However, to facilitate an alternative route for their return journey, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Harmeet Singh Kalka and the committee's Chief Adviser on International Affairs, Paramjit Singh Chandhok, approached the Union Home Ministry.
