A vehicle carrying devotees to Gurdwara Alowal Sahib to pay obeisance on the birth anniversary of Sant Ishar Singh Rara Sahib Wale met with an accident on the Patiala–Bhadson Road on Wednesday.

According to officials, around 40 devotees were injured in the mishap, while a 6-year-old girl lost her life. The injured were rushed to Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, and the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhadsón for treatment.

After receiving information about the accident, Patiala Rural MLA and Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh visited Rajindra Hospital to enquire about the condition of the injured. He met patients admitted to the emergency ward and assured their families that the government would provide all possible medical assistance and support.

Sant Ishar Singh Rara Sahib Wale’s birth anniversary is observed every year on August 5 at his birthplace, village Alowal, where a large number of devotees from different regions gather to offer prayers and seek blessings.

The accident occurred while the devotees were travelling to participate in the annual religious observance. Police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident.
