Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted a raid at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) headquarters in Mohali, intensifying its investigation into an alleged ₹150-crore Change of Land Use (CLU) scam and fee default case.
During the operation, the ED reportedly sealed the office of GMADA’s Chief Engineer and launched a detailed examination of documents and records. Sources said the agency also seized the mobile phones of several senior officials as part of the investigation.
Apart from the Chief Engineer, the Estate Officer and the Additional Chief Administrator were called in and questioned individually by the ED team. Officials were reportedly asked about matters related to land-use approvals, project clearances, and fee compliance.
According to sources, ED teams arrived at the GMADA office in three vehicles. Officers from Jalandhar, Chandigarh, and Delhi were said to be part of the joint operation.
While the ED has not yet issued an official statement regarding the raid, sources indicated that the action is linked to an ongoing probe into alleged irregularities involving CLU permissions and unpaid dues in several real estate projects, including Suntec City in New Chandigarh.
The agency has been investigating multiple projects connected to the case and had earlier conducted searches at the premises of two builders. Officials believe the latest operation at the GMADA office is part of the same investigation aimed at uncovering the extent of the alleged financial and regulatory violations.
