AAP questions Raghav Chadha’s voter status, alleges irregularities in electoral roll process

Political tensions have intensified over allegations regarding the deletion of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s vote, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anurag Dhanda raising several questions about Chadha’s voter registration status and the electoral roll revision process.

Addressing a press conference, Dhanda claimed that Flat No. 103 in Mohali, the address referred to by Raghav Chadha, is currently unoccupied. He questioned how Chadha’s name was added to Delhi’s draft electoral roll after August 30 if it was allegedly missing earlier, and asked how the inclusion took place without the required application process.

Dhanda alleged that Chadha’s voter registration may have been processed retrospectively and accused the BJP of influencing voter list revisions. During the press conference, AAP leaders also played a video purportedly showing a journalist visiting the Mohali flat in question. According to the video, the flat appeared vacant, and a security guard reportedly stated that he had never seen Raghav Chadha residing there.

The footage allegedly showed the flat in poor condition, with minimal furniture and signs that it was not being occupied. Based on these observations, AAP leaders questioned Chadha’s claim of being a voter in Punjab.

Dhanda argued that while Chadha has maintained that his vote was unfairly removed from Punjab’s voter list, there appears to be no evidence of his residence at the address linked to his voter registration.

He further stated that if Chadha is seeking restoration of his vote in Punjab through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, it indicates that he considered himself a Punjab voter. He emphasized that an individual cannot legally be registered as a voter in two places simultaneously.

AAP also claimed that when the draft voter list for Delhi was released on August 31, Chadha’s name did not appear in the Rajinder Nagar constituency records. The party said that if Chadha intended to vote in Delhi, he would have to follow the prescribed procedure for transferring his voter registration. However, AAP alleged that his name has now appeared in the list despite questions surrounding the process.

The party further alleged irregularities in the addition and deletion of voters during the ongoing SIR exercise and urged the Election Commission to ensure complete transparency and strict adherence to electoral rules throughout the revision process.
