All India inter-university fencing championship begins

AMRITSAR: All India Inr University Fencing (Women / Men) Championship 2021-22 was inaugurated here today in a big Multi-Purpose Gymnasium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. The players from 112 universities across the country will participate in these competitions.

The championship is being hosted by Department of Physical Education (AT) of Guru Nanak Dev University keeping in view the Covid restrictions of the Punjab Government following double dosage vaccination certificate/RTPCR Negative report, mask essential etc.

Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University while congratulating the players from all over the country, asked the students to be aware of the third wave of Covid and keep proper distance between them along with the masks. He assured for all possible support from the university.

Earlier, inaugurating the championship, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Director Sports of the University informed about the championship and gave a warm welcome to the players, their accompanying coaches and others. He thanked the university administration for arranging accommodation and meals for the male/female players from the other universities across the country. Mr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Deputy Director Sports gave the details of great achievements of the University in the field of sports so far under the able leadership of Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu. He said that during this competitions of Foil, Sabre, Epee events will be conducted.
