An armoured police van carrying around 70 inmates from Amritsar Central Jail to a district court hearing broke down on the way near D Division police station. Despite repeated attempts, the vehicle could not be restarted.
In an unusual turn of events, police personnel themselves pushed the heavily loaded van to a nearby mechanic’s workshop for repairs. The breakdown and the effort to move the vehicle were captured on mobile phones by onlookers and later went viral on social media.
After nearly half an hour of repair work, the vehicle was fixed, restarted, and eventually taken to the court complex for the scheduled hearings.
