Amritsar Commissionerate Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its crackdown on illegal arms trafficking by busting an arms supply network and arresting two accused involved in the racket. Police recovered eight illegal .30 bore pistols and 103 live cartridges from their possession during the operation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with smugglers based abroad through social media applications. The accused allegedly received consignments of foreign-made illegal weapons and supplied them to criminal elements operating across Punjab.
According to police officials, the network was actively involved in providing illegal firearms to criminals in the state. Following the recovery of the weapons, investigators have intensified efforts to trace the entire supply chain and identify other individuals connected to the racket.
An FIR has been registered at Islamabad Police Station in Amritsar. Police are examining how and through which channels the accused obtained the weapons. Investigators are also probing their links with overseas smugglers and exploring possible cross-border connections.
Authorities are further trying to determine how many illegal weapons have already been supplied in Punjab and which criminal gangs or individuals received them. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected as police work to dismantle the entire network.
