Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted three major networks involved in drug and illegal arms smuggling, arresting nine accused and recovering 8 illegal pistols, 8.536 kg of heroin, ₹12.95 lakh in drug money and four live cartridges.

Accused Linked to Foreign Handlers

According to police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were in contact with handlers based abroad. The suspects allegedly received consignments of illegal weapons and heroin from overseas and subsequently supplied them to other criminal elements.

Three FIRs Registered

Police have registered three FIRs at Cantonment and Chheharta police stations in connection with the operation. The accused are being questioned as investigators work to establish the wider network and identify other people involved.

Police Tracing Forward and Backward Links

The investigation is focused on identifying additional suspects and uncovering the forward and backward links of the smuggling network. Police are also probing the alleged connections between the foreign-based handlers and local criminal networks, including the source of the drugs and weapons and their intended recipients.
