Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted three networks allegedly involved in the illegal supply of weapons and narcotics, arresting 11 accused and recovering a huge cache of arms and drugs.

The police recovered 12 illegal pistols, two hand grenades, 310.10 grams of heroin and 33 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation through his official X handle.

According to the DGP, preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were in contact with foreign-based handlers and gangsters. These handlers allegedly used drones to send consignments of illegal weapons and narcotics into India. The consignments were subsequently distributed among criminal elements through the arrested accused.

Investigations have further revealed that the accused allegedly used these weapons to intimidate people and extort money. Police suspect that when extortion demands were not met, the accused resorted to firing at the residences and shops of their targets.

The police are now investigating the involvement of other individuals in these criminal activities and trying to establish the source of the illegal weapons supply.

In connection with the case, three separate FIRs have been registered at Ranjit Avenue, Chheharta and Sultanwind police stations in Amritsar.

The accused are being interrogated to establish further links in the illegal arms and drug supply networks.
