Garinda police have recovered 1.990 kg of heroin from the border area near BOP Bharobhal in Amritsar. Following the seizure, police registered a case against an unidentified person.
According to police, the case was registered on the complaint of Rakesh Negi, Company Commander of BSF ‘A’ Company, 181 Battalion. The complaint stated that two packets suspected to contain heroin were recovered from the BOP Bharobhal area.
Following the information, investigating officer ASI Sahib Singh registered a case against an unknown person and initiated an investigation.
Police said the total weight of the recovered heroin was 1.990 kg. A waxed envelope and around 203 grams of packing material were also recovered from the spot.
The suspected contraband was examined using a drug detection kit following the seizure. The recovered heroin, packing material and other items have been taken into police custody as part of the investigation.
Probe to Identify Those Behind the Consignment
No accused has been identified or arrested so far. Police are investigating how the heroin reached the border area and who left the consignment there.
Officials are also attempting to trace the source of the drugs and identify individuals linked to the consignment. Further investigation is underway.
