Approx. 80% seats of PG Programmes got filled during first round of first counselling, second round started

BHATINDA: When the other educational institutions across the region are striving hard to fill up their seats during Academic Session 2020-21 Admission Process in COVID-19 times, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) once again emerged as the student’s preferred destination for higher education. This is evident from the point as consequent to the declaration of CUCET-2020 Results on 17th October, students from across the country registered for CUPB Counselling started from 19th October and approximately 80% of Seats of PG Programmes got booked by the end of First Round of First Counselling on 27th October 2020. Currently, CUPB is offering 1371 seats in its 42 Master Level Programmes and 177 Seats in its 35 Ph.D. Programmes. CUPB got tremendous response from students since the time of announcement of Admission Process and the university has received around eighty thousand applications in their various PG/Ph.D. Programmes during CUCET-2020 Examination registrations.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Raghavendra P. Tiwari, conveyed his best wishes to students for their bright career. He stated that even during COVID-19 times a large number of students from across the country have expressed their interest to study in our university and now they are participating in the CUPB Admission Counselling Process. He mentioned that the increase in student’s interest to study at the Central University of Punjab is the result of high-quality teaching & research facilities provided at CUPB by our qualified faculty and well-trained staff.

Mr Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, Registrar & Controller of Examinations mentioned that around 1059 seats of Post Graduate Programs got filled by the end of Round One of First Online Counselling and remaining seats will be allotted on merit during Roud Two of First Online Counselling which has started from 28th October onward. He informed that under Ph.D. Admissions Process CUPB has called 1142 shortlisted candidates for Online Interview Round scheduled from 29th to 31st October. He added, as per university rules for Ph.D. Admissions the preference will be given to suitable candidates who have fellowships.
