A private bus conductor was allegedly murdered behind the Bathinda Bus Stand, police said on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Baljinder Singh, a resident of Chughe Kalan village.
After receiving information about the incident, Kotwali Police reached the spot on Monday morning and initiated an investigation. A murder case has been registered against unidentified assailants, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused.
According to bus driver Iqbal Singh, Baljinder Singh worked as a conductor on his bus. On Sunday evening, they parked the bus at the bus stand around 7:30 pm and later left separately for their respective villages. About 15 minutes later, Iqbal Singh received a phone call informing him that Baljinder Singh was lying injured near a pit behind the bus stand.
Iqbal Singh, along with his colleagues, rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured conductor to the Civil Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The bus driver claimed that CCTV footage from the area shows two suspects, who allegedly attacked Baljinder Singh with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene.

Kotwali SHO Yadvinder Singh said police are conducting a thorough investigation and closely examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to establish the identity of the attackers and determine the motive behind the murder.
