Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s life and political journey will soon be showcased in a documentary film titled “From Satauj to Parliament.” The documentary will be released in seven languages on August 30.
Mann revealed the project by sharing its trailer on social media on Thursday evening. Describing it as the story of a man rooted in his village soil, a popular satirist, and a leader who went on to become Punjab’s Chief Minister, Mann said the film traces the key milestones of his life.
The documentary highlights his childhood in Satauj village of Sangrur district, his career in the entertainment industry, entry into politics, and rise to the state’s top political post. It covers his political beginnings with the People’s Party of Punjab, his association with the Aam Aadmi Party, victories in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and his appointment as Punjab Chief Minister in 2022.
The film also features memories and conversations with his mother Harpal Kaur, sister Manpreet Kaur, and friends from the entertainment industry, offering insights into his journey from a rural background to the Chief Minister’s office.
In addition, the documentary showcases key initiatives of the Mann government, including efforts to extend canal water to the tail end of irrigation networks, health insurance schemes, and the Maavan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. With Punjab Assembly elections due in 2027, the timing of the documentary’s release is also being viewed as politically significant.
