Senior Punjab Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Friday met newly appointed Punjab Congress in-charge and AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot in New Delhi as consultations between state leaders and the party’s new leadership continue.

During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on the current political situation in Punjab, organisational issues and strategies for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Since Sachin Pilot was appointed as the party’s Punjab in-charge, several senior Congress leaders from the state have met him in the national capital. Those who have already interacted with Pilot include Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, and former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.

The series of meetings is being viewed as an effort by the Congress leadership to strengthen the party organisation and improve coordination among senior leaders amid ongoing internal differences within the Punjab Congress unit.
