CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s advisor S. Bharatinder Singh chahal on Friday condoled the sad demise of veteran journalist and former State Information Commissioner Surinder Awasthi (70), who passed away after a brief illness this morning at PGI where he was undergoing treatment. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters.
In his condolence message, the S. Chahal described Surinder Awasthi, who also served with The Times of India, as an eminent journalist and a fine human being with the qualities of head and heart who always championed the cause of freedom of press. A void has been created with the passing away of Surinder Awasthi in Media fraternity, which is difficult to be filled, S. Chahal added.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, the S.chahal also prayed to the Almighty to give courage to them to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
