Panic gripped the campus of Punjab University on Saturday after a bomb threat targeting the university’s Student Centre was reported. The threat prompted an immediate response from police and security agencies, leading to heightened security arrangements in and around the campus.
As soon as the information was received, police teams rushed to the spot and began a thorough investigation. Given the seriousness of the threat, the Student Centre and nearby areas were placed under increased security surveillance.
A bomb disposal squad and other security agencies were also deployed to assist in the search operation. Teams conducted extensive checks of the Student Centre and other sensitive locations within the university premises.
Authorities are also keeping a close watch on any suspicious activity in the area.
Security agencies are trying to determine how the threat was communicated and who was behind it. Police are examining the credibility of the threat while simultaneously working to identify the person responsible for issuing it.
University administration is coordinating closely with law enforcement agencies, and a review of the campus security arrangements is currently underway. No explosive material had been reported recovered at the time of filing this report, and the investigation is continuing.
