Cabinet Minister Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar inagurates Fire Service Training Institute and Directorate of Fire Services and Fire Station

The Punjab government is continuously fulfilling the promises made to the people and large number of development projects are being continuously inaguarted. Security of the people of the state is also being ensured from various aspects.

This was stated by the Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar while inaugurating the Fire Service Training Institute, Directorate of Fire Service (Field) and Fire Station at Sector 78, which has been constructed at the cost of Rs 04 crore.

On this occasion, he also laid the foundation stone of the building of Fire Service Training Institute and Directorate of Fire Services at the same place at the cost of around 16 crore rupees.

Addressing the event, Dr. Nijjar disclosed that these type of institutions were operating in various states but Punjab was lacking in this facility. About 1.75 acres of land was alloted for this project. A new building is to be constructed at the same place under the second phase and a fire service training institute and a fire station would be established in 20 acres of land at Lalru under the third phase where sports stadium, swimming pool, staff accommodation and training buildings would be established. He said that through these institutions, high level training would be provided regarding fire services and these institutions would also create a large number of employment opportunities.

Dr. Nijjar said that this institute will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, high level and experienced staff and national level training facilities. With the help of these the fire services in the state will improve further and the capacity to deal with untoward incidents would also increase. He said that the Punjab government is committed to solve all the problems of all the personnel related with fire services. No stone would be left unturned in this regard.

Dr. Nijjar said that a fire hydrant system is being installed in Amritsar city (Walled City) at a cost of Rs 20 crore, which would help in controlling fire incidents in the congested areas. Such projects will be implemented in other cities as well. He expressed satisfaction over the standard of the building prepared in Mohali.

The cabinet minister said that with this initiative, firemen from different places will come and take training related to fire duty. This will improve fire services in Punjab and provide better services to the residents of Punjab. On this occasion, he also instructed the officials to plant maximum saplings around the building.

Addressing the event, MLA Kulwant Singh said that this project is a big gift for the city. Mohali is a planned city and every facility is available to the people, whenever any facility is required, it is provided. It is a matter of pride that Mohali has been selected for this state level training institute.

The MLA said that when he was the Mayor of Mohali, efforts were made regarding this project and today those efforts succeeded today. He said that cameras are being installed in Mohali soon at the cost of Rs 15 crore. This will reduce crimes and help in the timely arrest of the accuseds. In terms of security, more effective arrangements will be made in Mohali as compare to Chandigarh.

On this occasion, the MLA appealed to the Cabinet Minister to make efforts for the inclusion of Mohali in the Smart City project, which will speed up the development of this city. The Cabinet Minister assured to take measures in this regard.

On this occasion, the chief guest Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar was also honored by the Mohali Municipal Corporation.

On this occasion, Director of Local Governments Department Mr. Uma Shankar, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Aashika Jain, SSP Mr. Sandeep Kumar Garg, Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Amaninder Kaur Brar, Commissioner MC Mohali Mrs. Navjot Kaur. , Joint commissioner Mrs. Kiran Sharma, S.D.M. Mohali Mrs. Sarabjit Kaur along with large number of councillors, officials of various departments, dignitaries and city residents were present.
