In a significant development in the bribery case involving suspended Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, a special CBI court on Monday reprimanded the Mohali Deputy Commissioner’s office for failing to comply with its orders.

The case came up for hearing after Bhullar filed an application requesting the preservation of CCTV footage from the Mohali DC office premises. He cited the footage as crucial evidence related to the circumstances of his arrest. The court had earlier directed the DC office to secure and preserve the footage.

However, the court observed that the instructions were not followed. Taking serious note of the lapse, the court warned that if the CCTV footage is not preserved by the next date of hearing, the Superintendent of the DC office will have to appear in person and explain the non-compliance.

The matter is now scheduled for further hearing on May 6. The court will also hear arguments on the CBI’s plea seeking daily hearings in the case.
