Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria travelled in a CTU bus to his office on Wednesday as part of the ‘No Car Day’ initiative. During the campaign, he appealed to officers, employees and residents of Chandigarh to minimise the use of private vehicles and adopt public transport.

Kataria said saving fuel has become the need of the hour in line with the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that government officials and employees must lead by example so that the public can also be encouraged to follow the initiative.

The Governor urged Chandigarh residents to use bicycles, buses and other modes of public transport at least once a week. He also appealed to students to adopt cycling and public transport, saying it would help save fuel, reduce traffic congestion and contribute towards environmental protection.

To make the ‘No Car Day’ campaign successful, the Chandigarh Administration also arranged special buses for commuters.
