Former Punjab Chief Minister and Jalandhar Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi has once again received the party leadership’s backing, as he has been reappointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Food Processing, Dairy and Fisheries.
Following the latest restructuring of the Parliamentary Standing Committees, Channi has been appointed to head the panel for the third consecutive time.
Expressing gratitude for the responsibility, Channi thanked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Channi said he would continue to work with sincerity, dedication and commitment for the welfare of farmers and strengthening the rural economy.
Channi has been serving as chairman of the committee since September 2024. The panel examines the policies, schemes, budgets and functioning of ministries and departments related to agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing, dairy and fisheries.
His continued appointment as chairman marks another significant responsibility for the Punjab Congress leader at the parliamentary level.
