A civil engineer was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths travelling in a black Mahindra Thar in Haryana’s Gurugram on Wednesday morning, leaving him with a fractured neck and multiple injuries. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over giving way on a narrow road near Sector 71.

According to the complaint filed at Badshahpur Police Station, the victim, identified as Dharmendra, has been living in Gurugram for the past 15 years and is currently employed as a civil engineer with MRG Builder. He was returning home after completing his night shift at around 7:15 am when the incident occurred outside Signature Andour Heights in Sector 71.

Dharmendra told police that a black Thar bearing Himachal Pradesh registration number HP 90-8901 stopped on the narrow stretch of road. An argument broke out after both sides allegedly disagreed over who should give way.

The verbal altercation soon escalated, and the occupants of the SUV allegedly dragged him out of his vehicle and began assaulting him.

The victim claimed he repeatedly pleaded for help as the attackers continued beating him. The assault reportedly continued until he was left severely injured. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Hearing his cries, society security guards and local residents rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors found injuries to his head and confirmed a fracture in his neck bone. Officials said his condition is currently stable and out of danger.

A video of the incident has also surfaced, purportedly showing the youths assaulting the engineer. Based on Dharmendra’s complaint, Badshahpur police have initiated an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the accused.
