Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met a committee constituted to pursue the issue of the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh prisoners). During the meeting, the committee members presented their views and demands regarding the release of Sikh prisoners and urged the government to take necessary steps in the matter.
Mann said he had listened seriously to the concerns and appeals raised by the committee members. He assured them that the Punjab government was committed to finding an appropriate and legal solution to the issue at the earliest.
Chief Minister said several legitimate and legal steps that had not been taken by previous governments for years would be pursued by his government on priority.
He said the government would make efforts to take the matter forward and work towards an early resolution. Mann reiterated that the Punjab government had always stood with justice and would take all necessary steps in the case of Bandi Singhs while remaining within the ambit of the law.
He also said all aspects related to the issue would be examined seriously before further action is taken.
The four-member committee comprises Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Pal Singh France and Balwinder Pal Singh.
Mann also shared details of the meeting on social media, stating that the government was sensitive to the issue and that the discussions with the committee would be important in deciding the course of further action.
