A state-level programme under the Punjab government’s Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Scheme was organised at Goindwal Sahib in Khadur Sahib, Tarn Taran, on Thursday. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann attended the event and released the October, November and December installments for around 37 lakh women across the state.
Under the scheme, eligible women from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while eligible women belonging to Scheduled Caste communities will receive ₹1,500 per month.

Addressing the gathering, CM Mann said Goindwal Sahib was chosen as the venue because of its religious and historical significance. He said the government collects taxes from people and its responsibility is to return that money to the public through various welfare and development initiatives.
Mann said the government was working at multiple levels to ensure that public welfare schemes and facilities reach people directly. He cited employment opportunities for youth, free electricity and water supply to farmers’ fields as examples of government initiatives aimed at benefiting people.
Taking a swipe at the Opposition, Mann said Congress and the BJP had “only one issue — me.” He maintained that the government was spending public money for the benefit of the people and that the objective of its schemes was to provide direct financial and other assistance to citizens.
During the program, the Chief Minister formally released the installment under the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Scheme, which provides financial assistance to women and daughters.
Women aged 18 and above eligible
Under the scheme, eligible women aged 18 years or above can avail themselves of the benefit. There is no cap on the number of eligible women from a single family. The financial assistance is transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The first installment was released in July 2026, when three months’ assistance was transferred together. General-category women received ₹3,000, while eligible Scheduled Caste women received ₹4,500.
₹9,300 crore allocated in 2026-27 Budget
The Punjab government has allocated ₹9,300 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 state Budget. According to the government, the scheme is expected to cover around 97% of eligible women in Punjab.
