Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday felicitated the state’s Commonwealth Games 2026 medal winners and participants at a state-level ceremony in Panchkula. A total of 24 athletes were honoured with cash prizes worth ₹13.97 crore.
Saini congratulated the athletes, their parents and coaches, and praised their dedication, discipline and hard work. He said Haryana had once again made the state and the country proud on the international stage.
Of the 122 Indian athletes who represented the country at the Games, 24 were from Haryana. They collectively won 11 medals, including seven gold, two silver and two bronze.
Chief Minister particularly praised Haryana’s women athletes, who won six of the state’s 11 medals, including five golds. He also highlighted the strong performance of Haryana boxers, who secured six of India’s seven gold medals in boxing.
Saini said the state’s sporting talent would play a key role in strengthening India’s position as a major sporting power at the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Olympic Games.
