India enjoyed a memorable seventh day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Dilip Mahadu Gavit won the country’s third gold medal by finishing first in the men’s Para T47 100m event with an impressive timing of 10.71 seconds.

The event turned into a dominant show for India, with Mohammad Basil claiming the silver medal after clocking 10.83 seconds. Kevin Santos of England settled for bronze with a time of 10.85 seconds.
The T47 category is designed for track athletes with upper-limb impairments, including those with partial arm loss or reduced arm functionality.
Gavit’s victory adds to India’s growing list of gold medals at the Games. Earlier, Sharmila Dhankad won gold in the women’s Para Shot Put F57 event, while Mirabai Chanu topped the podium in the women’s 48kg weightlifting category.
India also celebrated success in athletics as Murali Sreeshankar won silver in the men’s long jump with a leap of 8.09 metres. He became the first Indian long jumper to win silver medals in two consecutive Commonwealth Games. Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle won gold with a jump of 8.15 metres.
With the latest results, India’s medal tally has reached 15 medals — 3 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze. The strong performances have lifted the country to eighth place in the overall standings after slipping to ninth earlier in the competition.
Meanwhile, Australia continues to lead the medal table with 47 gold medals and 103 medals overall.
India’s boxing contingent also strengthened the nation’s medal prospects, as six Indian boxers advanced to the semifinals, ensuring at least 10 medals for the team in boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
