A shocking case of alleged gang rape inside a moving sleeper bus has surfaced from Delhi’s Rani Bagh area. The incident reportedly took place on Monday night when a woman returning home from work was allegedly assaulted by the bus driver and helper before being thrown near Nangloi Metro Station.
According to police, the survivor works at a factory in Mangolpuri and lives in Pitampura with her husband and two children. Her husband is reportedly suffering from tuberculosis. After finishing work, she was waiting for a bus in the Saraswati Vihar area when a sleeper bus stopped nearby.
As per the FIR lodged at Rani Bagh police station, the woman asked a man standing at the bus door about the time. She alleged that the accused then dragged her inside the bus and instructed the driver to move the vehicle. During the journey, the driver and helper allegedly raped her inside the moving bus.
The accused later allegedly threw the woman out of the bus near Nangloi Metro Station and fled the scene. Police immediately shifted the survivor to a hospital and registered a case based on her statement.
During the investigation, Delhi Police examined CCTV footage installed along the route and identified the sleeper bus, which reportedly operates between Delhi and Bihar. The bus was later seized, and both the driver and helper were arrested on Tuesday. They have since been sent to judicial custody while further investigation is underway.
